This is an application which I envision on big screens with gestural interface being used at big research labs or anti terrorist cells to take out pattern of all the past terror attacks happened over India. This database can be further extended to global level. The whole data design has been done in a single screen to map out patterns at visual level.
Virtual earth has been used at extensive level to plot the attack locations with the help of latitude and longitude values. The data has been developed on real facts and figures with extensive research and support of institute of conflict management and global terrorism database. The whole visualization is time driven. With the help of expandable slider we can select the particular time range or particular year to get the data of those particular year attacks from the database. There has been an extensive use of linq to bind the elements with databse. Each and every component is dynamic over here. The lines are being drawn in runtime.
The multiple variables are being connected with line of single attack to show the various relationships and patterns. Info graphic has been developed using simple geometry so that the whole focus remains on data and its density. The size and shape of the geometrical objects determines the magnitude of the particular value which is again dynamic depending on the time selection. This particular visualization shows the 11 categories of terrorist groups in India on the basis of region which comprises of more than 200 groups, in which some are active and some dormant on the basis of reports collected.
Further it connects to the global linkages of particular group in terms of organizations and funding.
All too often we are reminded that terrorism continues to inflict pain and suffering on people’s lives all over the world. Almost no week goes by without an act of terrorism taking place somewhere in the world, indiscriminately affecting innocent people who just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Countering this scourge is in the interest of all nations and the issue has been on the agenda of the United Nations for decades.
LET US DO SOMETHING TO COUNTER IT!
